Forgotten Junk

WELCOME ON IN

Guilty pleasures; the bad things you like when you really shouldn't, we shamelessly take pride in enjoying the things the normal viewer would naturally call a load of crap (though that doesn't apply to Michael Bay's productions). One man's trash is another man's gold, and that's what this site looks to be all about. This shamelessly amateur site, written by two geeks under pseudonyms on YouTube (VendavalEste and InvidNinja92) is meant to be a celebration of many wonders, good and bad, that have become forgotten over the years or are only known to some. Sites on the topic of 'bad' movies that no one should seriously enjoy are nothing new, but we're aiming to provide as much coverage as possible on the titles we tackle - we're even hoping to do more than just movies. Some of the things here will actually be genuinely good (quite obviously not as trashy as the rest) but will be getting honourary mentions because they deserve it. Sit back and enjoy what's in store!A

A FEW HIGHLIGHTS

 Did you know that...

...the first-ever British CGI movie was made on a couple of Apple Macs and old graphics programs? It was also a manga. If you know what the hell Dominator is, it's still suggested you read on anyway, as this is the only place you're gonna find some real material on it.

...that M.D. Geist was one of the best-selling anime titles in the US during VHS era? He's also pretty hated, but we love him here. He also needs to make a comeback, or at least slay modern anime characters in their sleep with a knife and a grenade to the face.

...that Strike Commando is the best movie ever made?

...that Roots Search is definitely the worst anime ever made and not M.D. Geist? That, or any fanservice-focused piece of crap.

That Scottish bagpipe music is the solution to all woes?

UPDATES

07 December 2009 - A long time coming but finally a new written review from me, often considered one of the most hated sequels of all time in its original form from 1991: Highlander 2: The Quickening. Two more articles may be coming from me during this month so keep your eyes peeled. -InvidNinja92

06 December 2009 - Uh-oh, we're falling back into not updating for another week again! The thing is, both me and InvidNinja are particularly busy, what with him being in Sixth Form and me being in University, so the ever-present institute workload is more important. That, and it's almost Christmas, so there's all the busy stuff that entails. I have a lot in the pipeline and I am debating what I should review next, Invid's next review should be done soon though. In the meantime, I'm updating the Video page a little, better than nothing, but keep looking forward. -VendavalEste

30 November 2009 - It's been a while but there's finally a new review up, this time it's for Double Target, another Bruno Mattei movie that bears similarity to Rambo 2, surprise surprise huh? Check it out. -VendavalEste

27 November 2009 - A week and no updates? We certainly let this place slide. Two new reviews are in the works and have a bit of renovating to do around here anyway, perhaps a new background is in order. In the meantime, enjoy this parody I have made of Dog Soldier and Strike Commando, I've been meaning to put it on the Videos page since I made it. -VendavalEste

20 November 2009 - I have made a new addition to the Links page, The Scandy Factory for all you VHS lovers. When anime was new and alien to the west, promotional videos like this were made, in which more than often they lied about the actual product. Here's the M.D. Geist one as we love that anime here, it's so hilariously dated, it also has to be noted that it's shorter than most of the other trailers made by Gaga Communications on the titles they were supposedly selling (it looks like they went under before anything happened), probably because M.D. Geist just didn't have a lot of story for their narrator to talk about. -VendavalEste

17 November 2009 - I have given the recent Dog Soldier review some tweaking and have also included its Images section. -VendavalEste

13 November 2009 - I've been meaning to get an anime review done lately, there is plenty of stuff in the pipeline, but having to re-watch all of it isn't very enjoyable, largely because of a lot of it's crap, and I feel inclined to check out any English dubs if they're available. Not to mention, both of us running this are pretty busy, I'm beginning to wonder if I should take guest articles, if you'd like to, drop off a mention in the guestbook. Mini-Update: Prior to this, I have wrote a review for Dog Soldier to keep things ticking over, check it out in the anime section. -VendavalEste

07 November 2009 - Visitors of Forgotten Junk may already be familiar with Bruno Mattei's unofficial Terminator sequel that came out before James Cameron's masterpiece, this unofficial sequel was actually a rip-off of Aliens and its alternate titles include Shocking Dark and Aliennators (and if you already haven't, check out the Cinema Snob's video review of it). Even lesser known is what appears to be a Japan-only sequel to this, calling itself "Aliennators 2: The Ultimate Terminater", yes with that typo, it's bad enough that the Japanese-written version of the title just calls it "Aliennator", so it's nearly two different titles on one box, but I'm being picky. This film was apparently directed by "Fred Olen Ray", even though it doesn't appear to be listed under him on IMDb, and its cast include "Jean Michael Vincent", "John Philip Law", "P. J. Soles", and "Jesse Dabson". It wouldn't be a surprise if it was released elsewhere in the world with a completely different title (I highly doubt this even has anything to do with the first one anyway). Mini-Update: I've just done some researching and Aliennators 2 is actually just known in the west as "Alienator: The Ultimate Terminator", and sounds like a laughably bad production with a cast and director I've never heard of, even though most of them all did a lot of work and Fred Olen Ray still does stuff today. Due to the similar title, it looks like it was just put out in Japan as an unofficial sequel (to what is already, an unofficial sequel). In short, I had fun thinking I had found something no one has ever heard of. -VendavalEste

05 November 2009 - I have been writing a new anime article for a while now, but some are still works in progress. As of today though, I have written a review of the extremely obscure, 20-minute Archangel Thunderbird, and have included where it can be watched online, enjoy. -VendavalEste

01 November 2009 - Following our review of Strike Commando is the review of its sequel, enjoy. As usual, I'm pretty busy, so the content for the Images section should hopefully be up tomorrow. -VendavalEste

30 October 2009 - Bit of an overhaul today, I made a new banner, touched up the introductory text, added some new links as well as two new pages, more content yet to come. -VendavalEste
